THE SUMMIT 2022 - Why We Are Reimagining Rural Healthcare

The healthcare landscape has drastically shifted over the last three years. Many challenges lie ahead for hospitals and clinics. Facilities located in rural areas will face mounting pressures to serve their communities. To provide hospitals with additional support, Teledigm Health and Bryan Telemedicine are hosting The Summit 2022 in October. This annual conference will bring together experts in healthcare and technology to reimagine rural healthcare.

Teledigm Health co-founders Dr. Brian Bossard and Shane Fleming sat down to discuss The Summit 2022.

Navigating Healthcare Disparities

What led to your decision to host a conference this year?

Dr. Bossard: Rural hospitals are often isolated compared to their urban counterparts. It’s been a growing challenge over the last couple decades, however the COVID-19 pandemic placed even more strain on them. Our mission motivates us to bring new solutions to rural facilities. When the pandemic hit, we knew we needed to do even more to support these organizations. So, we looked beyond virtual solutions.

Providing the best virtual programs for hospitals requires imagination, and so we called on our community of business partners. Connecting with industry experts and seeking the latest advancements in telemedicine will help leaders find the solutions that fit their facility.

Fleming: Helping hospitals succeed has always been our top priority. We are consistently striving to develop new programs and solutions to meet their needs. With The Summit, we can expand our impact and connect more hospitals with the resources they need.

How will this event address health disparities in rural areas?

Fleming: In my opinion, the greatest solutions come from in-person collaboration. You can explore ideas with others that you may not have thought of otherwise. There’s a lot of power in partnerships. By bringing together healthcare providers and leading telehealth experts, we can reshape rural healthcare to fit the needs of the communities they serve. The Summit 2022 will provide the connections hospitals need to find and integrate critical support.

What’s in Store?

What do you hope to accomplish with The Summit 2022?

Dr. Bossard: First and foremost, we want to bring attention to the latest developments. Secondly, we hope to prepare hospitals for the future of healthcare. There is a lot of uncertainty as far as what the healthcare landscape will look like in the next couple years. So, by providing resources now, we can prepare teams with the digital infrastructure they need to stay ahead of outbreaks and cyber-attacks.

What can attendees look forward to at The Summit 2022?

Fleming: Attendees can expect in-depth discussions spanning all areas of healthcare operations. From the initial planning stages, we wanted to ensure hospitals will learn what they need to advance their care, internal operations, and walk away with the ability to formulate strategies for their business with multi-faceted choice.

There will be keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and round table panels covering everything from pediatrics to technology. Teladoc, Boys Town Pediatrics, and Five Nines Technology Group are just a few of the organizations that will be speaking at the event. Several rural healthcare leaders will also be participating to bring unique, first-hand experiences to The Summit.

Attendees will have opportunities to meet with speakers and organization representatives to explore programs and solutions to streamline their facilities. I think attendees will be impressed by the insight and value they will gain from this experience.
